LASER BASICS

Engraving Power - The amount of laser power that is applied to the material surface. At a given speed, higher power will produce deeper cutting or engraving. Adjustable in 1% increments, the power can be controlled either from your computer or from the control panel on the engraver. Power can also equate to speed. A 100 watt laser can travel significantly faster than a 25 watt laser and achieve the same depth of cut into wood without a subsequent loss in quality. This means more product faster. A 100 watt laser will also cut through thicker materials than either a 25 or 50 watt laser.

The Legend line offers power levels from 25 to 100 watts.

Spot Size - The spot size of the laser beam can be adjusted by using different focal length lenses. A small spot size is used with higher resolutions to achieve finer engraving detail. A large spot size can be used for lower resolution engraving and is an excellent choice for vector cutting. A 2.0 inch lens is supplied as standard equipment with the Legend, and there are three optional lenses available to provide maximum versatility for all of your engraving and cutting needs.
